A MAN faces a bill of more than £460 after dodging a train fare between Leeds and Bradford.

Luke Seal, 25, of Oakfield Road, Matfield, Tonbridge, Kent, faced one charge of travelling on the railway without paying a fare.

He travelled between Leeds and Bradford Forster Square without paying the £4.90 fare.

During the journey, on July 19 last year, he was asked by the conductor to produce a valid ticket and was unable to. He could not then pay for the journey he was making.

He was issued with an Unpaid Fares Notice to pay the fare within 21 days. He did not pay within the time limit, and two subsequent letters were sent to him, without a payment being made.

Seal was fined £220, ordered to pay £150 costs, a £88 victim surcharge and £4.90 compensation for the offence, which totalled £462.90.

Seal was sentenced in his absence at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court on December 16, 2022.
