LATEST NEWS: Woman hit by truck in Bradford city centre still fighting for life

A FEMALE pedestrian is fighting for her life after being hit by a truck on a busy Bradford road.

An air ambulance was used as police and medics attended the collision on Leeds Road just before 5pm.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

A police cordon remains in place this evening.

Leeds Road is closed both ways due to the incident which occurred between Thryberg Street and Edderthorpe Street.

Multiple bus services are being diverted.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area.

A spokesperson from the force said: "Shortly before 4.50pm today (Monday), police were called by the ambulance service regarding a serious road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a truck on Leeds Road, Bradford.

"The pedestrian was taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries and a police cordon remains in place whilst enquiries are ongoing regarding the circumstances of the collision.

"Drivers are urged to avoid the area.

"Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact police via the 101LiveChat function on the website or by calling 101 quoting log 1141 of today."

A spokesperson from Yorkshire Ambulance Service added: "We received a call at 4.45pm.

"It was a report of a collision between a lorry and a pedestrian.

"One patient, a female, was conveyed to hospital by road ambulance.

"Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, a hazard area response vehicle, an air ambulance and two doctors were dispatched to the scene."
