A WARNING has been issued by Bradford police following air weapon incidents in the district.

In the latest,  two 16-year-old boys were arrested and bailed on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence on Great Horton Road.

It is an offence for anyone under the age of 18 to have an air weapon or ammunition with them.

A 31-year-old male was arrested for possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence following an incident where an air weapon was allegedly used to intimidate another road user. He was released under investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Farrell of Bradford District Police said: “Possession of an air weapon is an offence for anyone under 18.

“All calls to police involving firearms are treated extremely seriously and as if it is a genuine firearm. If you do wave an imitation firearm around you, you could find yourself surrounded by firearms officers pointing real weapons at you.

“An air weapon is extremely dangerous; it is powerful enough to injure and kill in the right circumstances.

“I would like to remind anyone who thinks they can use a firearm or an air weapon to cause fear of violence will be dealt with robustly by officers. There is no place for weapons on our streets.”
