REMEMBER when Broadway looked like this? The Christmas lights were still up when this photograph was taken by the Telegraph & Argus in January 1972. The old ABC Cinema can be seen, close to where the Light Cinema now stands.

The Broadway area of the city centre changed forever in November 2015 when Westfield finally opened its long-awaited new shopping centre.

It was back in 1998 when plans for a major shopping centre were originally announced. But when buildings on the old Broadway were pulled down, the recession stalled Bradford's regeneration plans and the city was left with a large site that became known as 'The Hole'.

In recent years the Broadway Bradford Shopping Centre has led to more retail and food outlets on the shopping street, which has become a busy part of the city centre once again.
