ST John Ambulance is looking to open new cadet units in Bradford, Otley and Skipton as part of plans to open 15 such centres in England.
The national first aid and healthcare charity is targeting Youth Investment Fund areas and those areas with the highest deprivation.
Cadets are aged between 10 and 17 and learn first aid and a wide range of other skills through St John Ambulance.
Older Cadets can go on first aid duties and also teach first aid techniques such as CPR to members of the public.
The charity is appealing for adults to step forward in these areas and volunteer as youth leaders and helpers for the young people to join the organisation as cadets in these new units.
They are set to be up and running following a development period in the first quarter of 2023 with support and funding provided by the Department for Digital, Media, Culture and Sport.
Caroline Conry, head of youth delivery at St John Ambulance, said: “This DCMS-funded initiative is a great opportunity to grow our Cadets’ presence in key areas of England and also to welcome a large number of adult and under-18 volunteers to our charity over the next few months.”
