A BRADFORD man has avoided being locked up for possession of a pocket knife in a public place.

Ben Adamson, 34, of Orchard Grove, was committed to detention for a total of three months, suspended for 12 months, for two offences.

In the first offence, possession of a knife/sharp pointed article in a public place, Adamson, an article with a blade without good reason or lawful authority in a public place on the A64 at Grimston Bar. He was caught in possession of a folding pocket knife on October 30, 2021.

He was committed for detention for three months, suspended for 12 months, ordered to pay £300 costs and a £156 victim surcharge for this offence.

A collection order was made by the court at the sentencing hearing.

The second charge related to failing to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time. This offence took place at York Magistrates’ Court on April 26, 2022. He was committed to detention for three months, consecutive to the first offence, suspended for 12 months, for this charge.

Adamson was sentenced at Bradford & Keighley Magistrates’ Court on December 14, 2022.
