A BRADFORD Primary school’s makeover has been given an official opening by a Civic dignitary who was assisted by a mini-Mayor.

Low Ash Primary School, in Wrose Road, Wrose, officially opened its new-look offices, nursery, library and entrance at the start of the new year.

Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Martin Love, did the honours at the school, which has 480 pupils aged between four and 11.

The Lord Mayor was helped out with the opening by a mini-Mayor, one of the school’s pupils George.

Fiona Meer, co-headteacher, says the new-look to sections of the school has been given the seal of approval from pupils and staff alike.

She said: “It’s absolutely fabulous. It’s fantastic, it’s great.

“The children were excited to have the Lord Mayor here. Normally children hear about Mayor’s in history, so for them to meet one was great.

“He went around every classroom and told the children about meeting King Charles in Bradford last year.”

Low Ash Primary School submitted plans in 2019 to build a new classroom and purpose built nursery to accommodate higher numbers of children joining the school.

These plans followed an application made last November for a new two-storey school building and extensions, when Bradford Council’s plan was to move the school from a two-form entry to three-form.
