THE pub company behind the transformation of an old town centre post office building has spoken of how it has been completely refurbished.

Amber Taverns has converted the building on Park Street, in Brighouse, into its latest pub.

It is now known as The Old Post Office and opened to the public for the first time in the run-up to Christmas, on Friday, December 16.

Area manager Mark Wass told the Telegraph & Argus: “We purchased the Old Post Office from the previous owners at the end of September 2022 and immediately started on a comprehensive refurbishment of the premises.

“The main structural change was to break through the wall separating the main pub space going into the old catering kitchen.

“The kitchen area now houses the bar and has created a larger customer space. The whole pub has been completely refurbished and was designed by an external design company.

“The upstairs area has also undergone major changes and is served by its own bar. We fully opened on Friday 16th December 2022.

“The upstairs bar is currently open at weekends and other key busy days, plus it is available for private hire.”

All staff have been recruited locally, he added.

Mr Wass said that Amber Taverns is passionate about its public houses and the communities they serve, and all of the drinks they serve are competitively priced.

The firm received the go-ahead from planners in September for the conversion and pledged to turn it into a modern community pub.

At the time, the firm said that Brighouse had been on its target list for a number of years.

“Amber is really excited to be in Brighouse, it has been on our target town list for 15 years – a great town to invest in,” they said.

The plans involved a lounge and bar area on the ground floor, alongside a garden area with seating, and the first floor would also have a bar and seating area, and an office.

The building had previously been run as a restaurant known as The Office.

Amber Taverns operates The Drum Winder, Ivegate, Bradford; Library Tap, Main Street, Bingley; and Bow Legged With Brass in Halifax.

The company has more than 160 public houses across the North West, North East, Midlands, Scotland and Wales. These are mainly community locals in busy towns as well as some city-centre venues.
