A BRADFORD man killed in a horror crash on the M62 was identified by his dental records, the opening of his inquest was told. 

Mohammed Shaan Hussain, 20 and from Bradford, died after the black Lamborghini Urus he was travelling in overturned on the westbound carriageway in Outlane at around 4.20am on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.

A woman, 22, who was also in the vehicle, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for further treatment.

The inquest into Mr Hussain’s death was opened and adjourned by Assistant Coroner Angela Brocklehurst at Bradford Coroners’ Court today (Thursday, January 5).

She said the circumstances of Mr Hussain’s death are still being investigated, adding ‘it will take some time to investigate the full circumstances of the road traffic incident’.

He was pronounced dead at 11.53am on December 21, 2022 on the M62 westbound between junctions 22 and 23 (Slack Lane).

A post-mortem into Mr Hussain’s death was carried out on December 22, 2022.

His identity was confirmed through dental records, the five-minute-long inquest hearing was told. No date for the resumption of Mr Hussain’s inquest was set at the opening hearing.

Mrs Brocklehurst said a police forensic collision report will take at least 12 weeks and up to one year to prepare. She also requested a toxicology report to be prepared within 28 days.

A number of tributes to Keighley-born Mr Hussain, who worked as a car valeter, were left on social media.

One close friend said: “Very sad day for me. He was a super, human being. I shall always miss him.

Another tribute said: “Gutted he has passed. He truly was one of a kind! He will be greatly missed. Heartbroken.”

In a statement released by West Yorkshire Police on December 21, a spokesman said: “Police are investigating a road traffic collision which took place on the M62 in the early hours of this morning which has resulted in the death of one person and the serious injury of another.

“The collision took place on the westbound carriageway, between junctions 22 and 23, at around 4.20am and involved one vehicle.”

The Major Collision Enquiry Team is continuing to investigate the collision and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened, or anyone who has footage that will assist their investigation.
