POLICE have confirmed that an 18-year-old woman died in a crash last night where a car flipped over.
The collision happened on Baildon Road (B6151), near its junction with Pasture Road, at 11.47pm on Tuesday evening.
An 18-year-old woman - who has been named locally as mum of one Amber Deakin and was a passenger in the silver Vauxhall Vectra which crashed - has died, a spokesperson for Wet Yorkshire Police confirmed.
A witness said the vehicle came off the road and flipped into a position where it meant the car's roof hit a wall first.
Police said the vehicle failed to stop for them and was being pursued by officers at the time of the crash and a referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
The collision provoked a major response from emergency services, with multiple police vehicles, ambulances and the fire service believed to have rushed to the scene.
Another witness also heard a helicopter circling the sky above Baildon at one point too.
Five people have been treated for injuries sustained in the crash.
Police have now revealed that two people have been arrested.
A 21-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, while a 26-year-old has been arrested in connection with the crash.
Both remain in police custody at this time.
A police cordon is still in place and the road is closed in both directions while officers continue to investigate.
Police are continuing to appeal for information in relation to the crash.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash, the vehicle prior to it, or who has dash cam footage.
If you can help you should contact police on 101, or using the contact options on the West Yorkshire Police website.
You should quote log number: 1802 of January 3.
