A MAN has appeared in court charged with racially aggravated behaviour towards a police officer in Bradford.
Martin Derby, 34, of Osborne Road, Blackpool, faced one charge of racially/religiously aggravated intentional harassment/alarm/distress – words/writing.
On December 21, 2021 at Bradford, with intent to cause a police officer harassment, alarm or distress, Derby used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour thereby causing that, or another person, harassment, alarm or distress and the offence was racially aggravated.
Derby was handed a community order for the offence, which included a rehabilitation activity requirement.
He was also ordered to pay £100 compensation and fined £80. A collection order was made by the court.
Derby pleaded guilty and was sentenced at Blackpool Magistrates’ and Civil Courts on December 12, 2022.
