SOMEONE rang the 999 emergency line to complain about another driver’s parking forcing them to reverse out of their own space.

West Yorkshire Police's Contact Management Centre shared details of the call to highlight the importance of using 999 for emergency calls only.

The team often tweets some of the more unusual phone calls they receive from the general public.

In its latest example, the team said: "If someone has parked in a manner where you would have to reverse your car to leave your space, this is not an obstruction and definitely not a 999 call. #Not999.”

Previous calls to the contact centre include someone calling 999 to ask for driving lessons to be booked for them.

Another called to say they wanted police to order them a pizza.
