IT was all hands on deck at Adam Masjid’s community kitchen as Dawoodi Bohra volunteers cooked and delivered Christmas meals for residents of Britannia Care.

40 meals were prepared and distributed to the care home on Thorn Street as part of Project Rise.

The donation was part of the Dawoodi Bohras’ global Project Rise to raise the living standards of vulnerable people and was held in conjunction with the Volunteering Interfaith Partnership(VIP).

Dr Murtuza Mookhtiar, a representative of the Dawoodi Bohra community of Bradford, said, “With the cost of living rising faster than usual, it is important that we support vulnerable communities - not just during the holiday season but all year round. The Bohras are happy to join with the Volunteering Interfaith Partnership to play our part.”

Dr Manoj Joshi MBE DL, Director of Britannia Care, said, “Thank you to the volunteering ladies of the Dawoodi Bohra community and Adam Masjid for providing a home-cooked Christmas meal for 40 Residents of Britannia Care - a great example of interfaith communities in action.”

Dr Javed Bashir, Founder of the Volunteering Interfaith Partnership, commented, “We are pleased that Bradford’s Dawoodi Bohra community has come forward after an appeal from Volunteering Interfaith Institutions (VIP) to help and support the most vulnerable this Christmas period.”

Member of Parliament for Bradford West, Naz Shah, lent a helping hand serving the residents.
