OVER 450 people have signed a petition calling for traffic calming on a “notoriously busy” Queensbury road.

The petition, loaded onto the Bradford Council website in October, called for new measures on the A647 from Ford Hill to Halifax Road.

The petition has now closed, with 455 people having signed it. It will now be up to the Council to decide what to do with the petition.

The petition read: “The section of the A647 from Ford Hill to Halifax Road is a notoriously busy road, along which drivers regularly speed, making it very dangerous for pedestrians of all ages, cyclists and other motor vehicle users alike.

Questions over funding for traffic calming measures in Bradford West

“Vehicles travel at high speed around the corner at Ford Hill in both directions and there have been numerous minor accidents where residential walls and stationary vehicles have been damaged, as well as near misses with passing vehicles.

“Many young families access the local nursery and primary school, pensioners use the local shop and pubs, and residents of all ages are vulnerable on the road and on foot. We need safety measures implementing to slow traffic down and potentially needs a safe way of crossing the road.

“It feels like it is only a matter of time before there is a more serious accident.”
