A WOMAN suffered injuries in a fall from height in the Bingley area this afternoon (Friday, December 16).

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said officers were called to a concern for safety report for a person on Sir Fred Hoyle Way in Bingley. 

"Officers attended and found the person, a female in her twenties, had suffered facial injuries," the spokesperson said.

"She was taken to hospital for further assessment."

Road closures are in place whilst enquiries are carried out into the circumstances of the incident, which is currently being treated as a fall from height.

The spokesperson said: "Bradford District CID are investigating and anyone who can assist their enquiries is asked to contact the team on 101, or by using the LiveChat facility on the West Yorkshire Police website quoting log reference 629 of December 16."

The major incident has been causing traffic "gridlock" in the area.

The Keighley Bus Company tweeted: "Due to major incident in Bingley, theShuttle, AireLine 60 and the K4 (buses) will be ending at Crossflatts until further notice.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

The incident has caused traffic problems for school services serving Bingley area schools.

A passerby in the area said: "The road is closed and there is gridlock in the town."
