A globally-sucessful bakery was crowned the winner of the Business Making a Difference Award.
Regal Foods was celebrated for going the extra mile to improve the lives of others and build strong connections in communities.
The company was nominated for its work with Dad Zone on a bake-off style competition.
The bakery sent its own professional taster to judge the baking delights of fathers and their children.
Regal Foods also awarded the winner with a big hamper filled with sweet treats.
Meanwhile all the children received prizes to reward them for their hard work.
The bakery’s nominator said: “Everyone went home happy.
“It felt that the company wants to keep it roots strongly at local level even when it has become international.”
The bakery opened in 2001 and tapped into the growing market of South Asian consumers.
Over the years, Regal Foods has gone from selling to small corner grocery stores to a multi million pound global business.
One of the company’s first products to launch, and one that got the company noticed, was their cake rusk - a crunchy, double-baked cake bar that is very popular across South Asian as a snack. The firm now produces18 varieties of this tea-time treat.
The company now sells more than 100 different lines, including snacks, tropical juices, crisps, popcorn, sweets, candyfloss, condiment sauces, cooking marinades and green teas.
Marketing manager Alec Gladok said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be crowned winners in the Business Making a Difference category at this year’s Bradford Community Stars Awards.
“The award we received is not only an acknowledgement to our community achievements within the Bradford district, but an acknowledgement to the people – the people of Bradford who we are so proud and honoured to support.
“Thank you to everyone who took time to vote for us and to the team at Better Start Bradford for putting us forward for this special award. We would also like to thank the many organisations we work with including Bradford Community Kitchen and Mind in Bradford, both of which we have forged strong partnerships with.”
Over the past two decades Regal Foods have received many awards that have highlighted their success.
These include Halal Manufacture of the Year, the New Products Award run by The Grocer, and the Power Business of the Year given by The English Asian Business Awards.
Meanwhile CEO Younis Chaudhry was honoured with the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the Bradford Means Business Awards in 2019.
The Business Making a Difference Award recognises the companies that have struck the balance between finance and finding ways to improve the lives of others.
The award shines a spotlight on the district’s companies which go the extra mile to provide services to their community and help their customers and organisations in a range of ways.
Shortlisted finalists included Robertshaw’s Farm Shop and 2TSHIRTGANG CIC.
