A POPULAR Bradford eatery has won a national award.
The Sweet Centre, based on Lumb Lane in Manningham, collected the Best Sweets & Savouries of the Year gong at the Asian Food & Restaurant Awards.
The national ceremony was held in London on Monday night.
Manager Haroon Habib was overwhelmed with the result.
He told the Telegraph & Argus: "We were shortlisted against three other big names in the category.
"We won and we are over the moon.
"We were 50/50 on if we were going to win. Our expectations were exceeded on the day."
It is the first time the business - which is located next to the Sweet Centre restaurant - has been up for the award.
The dessert parlour has gained popularity from the options it serves - Chana Puri, Halwa, Kebabs, Samosa and Falooda.
Haroon added: "I think they made recommendations and then sent some mystery shoppers to try us out and the judging panel were happy with us.
"We are known for our Asian sweets and have been established as a name for 60 years.
"Bradford has done a lot for us. If you can get the city on the map, it is always a great thing."
