POLICE and firefighters were put through their paces by young people taking part in a boxing programme.
The Kirklees Capture and Control team joined Red Watch at Dewsbury Fire station to tackle a fitness circuit designed by those on the Get Started with Boxing programme, run by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) and the Prince's Trust.
The programme is aimed at young people aged 16-25 who are not in education, employment or training. The programme, through disciplined sport, seeks to develop young people's confidence and wellbeing.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Youth Intervention Team were also joined for the week by PS Stuart Clarke from Dewsbury and Mirfield Neighbourhood Policing Team.
PS Clarke said: "The Get Started in Boxing programme is a great opportunity for young people, having seen the young people develop and grow in confidence through the week has been amazing, they should be rightly proud of their achievement."
Charlie Smith, Youth Interventions Co-ordinator at WYFRS, added: "Boxing isn't just about the physical elements and this week has focused on the mental resilience, personal development, teamwork skills and motivation to support the young people into their next steps."
