THE banqueting suite of a popular Bradford restaurant has been given a makeover worth more than £200,000.
The Aagrah Midpoint Suite, at the Thornbury site, has undergone a significant upgrade.
The investment is intended to make the suite one of the most luxurious five-star hospitality venues in the North of England.
It is a purpose-built site used for conferences, banqueting and awards ceremonies. The work took place through last month in the suite and included new flooring, stage, décor and technology facilities.
Seating 400 guests, Aagrah chiefs say it has been renovated with a state-of-the-art audio system to accommodate event requirements.
To stay at the top of the expanding hospitality sector and to remain relevant to a wide range and increasingly demanding clientele, Aagrah says the investment shows business confidence for further growth plans and creating jobs.
The site’s restaurant remained open throughout the renovation work.
The firm officially opened its new-look banqueting and conference centre on Tuesday, December 6.
Playing pivotal roles, Noorie Sabir created the interior design of the Midpoint Suite, while Yousef Mahmood’s progressive vision for the new-look suite looks set to take the business forward.
Supported by the entire Aagrah family, Arshad Mahmood, director, said: “We are incredibly proud of the hard work from our team members and employees as they work with us to deliver our continued plans towards being the most loved restaurant brand across the region and beyond.”
Aagrah Midpoint, a multi-million-pound purpose-built restaurant and banqueting suite, opened in 2009, and the launch was attended by 1,000 guests over two days’ worth of celebrations.
The Aagrah empire was founded in Shipley in 1977 and has grown into a highly successful, award-winning business with almost a dozen restaurants across the North.
It still has a site in Shipley, in Saltaire Road, along with the Aagrah Midpoint in Thornbury and sites in Skipton, Leeds and beyond.
For decades it has been one of the district’s – and country’s – leading lights in the world of South Asian cuisine, with its authentic Kashmiri dishes honoured with multiple awards over the years.
Its managing director, Mohammed Aslam worked his way up from textile mills in the city to become one of Aagrah’s leading figures, serving as the restaurant chain’s figurehead. For his efforts he has received an MBE.
