A YOUNG drug dealer has been locked up for five and a half years for repeatedly trafficking cocaine after ‘partying’ following his release from a five-year sentence for a serious offence of violence.
Bilaal Saleem, 20, of Spencer Street, Keighley, was twice caught selling Class A drugs and in breach of a suspended sentence order, Bradford Crown Court heard today.
He was sentenced on a video link to HMP Doncaster after being recalled to custody.
The court heard that Saleem was sentenced to five years detention for wounding when he was aged 15. When he was released aged 18, he ‘fell back into partying,’ his barrister Stephen Littlewood said.
Saleem took Ketamine and cannabis and began to sell drugs to fund his habit.
The court was told that the police searched two addresses in Keighley in December, 2021. They seized cocaine, cannabis and Ketamine and found phone messages that showed Saleem was selling drugs.
Nine months later, on September 1 this year, he was stopped in a Toyota car in posses-sion of £100 in cash, two phones and a small amount of high purity cocaine hidden in a dummy car key.
Saleem pleaded guilty to offences of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
