WHO remembers the festive tradition of ‘Scroggling the Holly’?
A celebration to welcome in the Spirit of Christmas, Scroggling the Holly processions took place in Haworth, starting at the bottom of Main Street in the village. The Holly Princess paraded up the cobbles, flanked by ushers and sweeps, to be crowned Haworth’s Holly Queen.
Also making an appearance was Father Christmas, with carols sung by a local choir, and other attractions at the events included craft and gift fairs, brass bands, song and dance from the Oakworth Morris Men, and traders dressed in Victorian costume.
