A BRADFORD man has been fined a large sum after he dodged a rail fare on his journey to Leeds.
Emmanual Ncube, 26, of Ravenscliffe Avenue, Eccleshill, Bradford, travelled between York and Leeds on May 25, 2022, without having previously paid the fare of £14.10.
During the journey he was asked to produce a ticket and he was unable to do so. Further, the defendant could not pay for the journey he was making.
He was issued with an Unpaid Fares Notice in good faith in order that he may continue the journey he was making and he may pay the outstanding fare within 21 days.
He failed to pay within the allotted time, even after two reminder letters were sent.
At Kirklees Magistrates’ Court, a Collection Order was made and he was fined £220, compensation of £14.10, a surcharge to fund victim services of £34, and costs of £150.
In total, he was fined £418.10 which must be paid by December 16, 2022.
