A MAN and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences with a property being searched by police.
Officers from Counter Terrorism Policing North East (CTPNE) detained two people from the Yeadon area last Friday.
A 29-year-old man and 30-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
This part of the act states: "A constable may arrest without a warrant a person whom he reasonably suspects to be a terrorist."
Both suspects were taken to a police station in West Yorkshire for questioning.
Police are also searching an address in the Yeadon area as part of the investigation.
Warrants of Further Detention have been granted for both people until this Friday, meaning police can hold them until then.
A spokesperson for CTPNE said: "This is an intelligence led operation."
