THREE leisure facilities in Kirklees are to temporarily close, it has been confirmed.
Kirklees Active Leisure (KAL) has announced the temporary closure or partial closure of three leisure facilities to help combat soaring inflation and energy costs.
KAL, a not-for-profit charitable organisation that runs 12 leisure and fitness sites across Kirklees, has been under financial pressure since the pandemic.
The subsequent energy and economic crises have added further financial strain to the organisation.
Despite action already being taken across a range of areas to reduce costs, temporary closures are necessary to reduce costs and allow KAL to continue to operate as many facilities as possible.
Batley Baths and Recreation Centre, Colne Valley Leisure Centre and Deighton Sports Arena will be closed from December 16 until the end of March next year.
The three venues will operate as usual up to, and including, December 16. The situation will be reviewed in spring 2023.
KAL’s other sites will operate as normal over the coming months, with a wide range of alternative options in place for customers to continue their usage with KAL.
Customers who use the affected facilities will be contacted to provide further details around their options and how to contact KAL.
