A MAN has appeared in court for refusing to provide a sample for a class A drug test at a Bradford police station.

Jonathan Carver, 50, of Parkwood Rose, Keighley, faced a charge of being a detainee/person charged failed/refused to provide a class A drug test.

While he was detained at Trafalgar House police station, in Nelson Street, Bradford, after he was arrested for and, at the time, had not been charged with an offence, namely theft, he failed to provide a non-intimate sample.

This was to discover whether he had a class A drug in his body. The offence took place on October 15, 2022.

Carver was fined £40 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £16 victim surcharge for the offence. The court will apply for deductions from Carver’s benefits.

He pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced at Bradford & Keighley Magistrates’ Court on November 28, 2022.
