AROUND 400 people are expected to turn up for a village Christmas lights switch-on this weekend.
The Idle Village Christmas Lights Switch On kicks off at 1pm on Sunday and lasts until 6pm.
There will be a host of different activities and entertainment to get involved with, including dancers, a local church choir and a tombola.
The whole event has been a team effort around the village, with children from Thorpe Primary School, in Albion Road, decorating the two sycamore trees in the centre of the village, as well as a new 20-foot fir tree that has been installed in the middle of the others.
Mick Marshall, who runs Idle Greetings, in The Green has helped bring everything together, alongside a number of others.
He said around 15 businesses are involved and they have been having weekly meetings.
There will be tea, coffee, hot chocolate and mince pies on offer, while the fish and chip shop will be open.
The Idle Draper and The White Swan will be welcoming customers, and there will be street stalls.
Mr Marshall said: “It should be great.”
He added: “There’s more people in the village and I think everyone is looking forward to it."
