A MAN killed in a car crash in Bradford died of multiple injuries, the opening of his inquest confirmed.
Nicky Tidswell, nicknamed ‘Tiddy’, died following a one-vehicle crash on Mayo Avenue, close to its junction with Manchester Road in Bradford, on Saturday, November 19, 2022.
Flowers were laid close to where Mr Tidswell’s Kia Sorento SUV lost control and collided with street furniture.
Police were called to the crash scene at 3.38am and officers performed CPR on Mr Tidswell until the paramedics arrived.
The 35-year-old, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene at 3.45am on November 19.
An inquest into Mr Tidswell’s death was opened and adjourned at Bradford Coroners’ Court today (Thursday).
A post-mortem into Mr Tidswell’s death has been carried out. The cause of his death was confirmed as multiple injuries.
No date for the resumption of Mr Tidswell’s inquest was set at the opening hearing.
Peter Merchant, assistant coroner, said: “Further enquiries need to be made to establish the full circumstances of how he died.”
A number of tributes to Bradford-born Mr Tidswell, who worked as a telecommunications engineer, were left on social media.
One person wrote: “Awww Nicky. Can’t believe it, absolutely gutted for you and your family.”
A further tribute said: RIP Nicky, fly high xx. Thought are with family and friends. Another young man goner too soon x.”
Another wrote: “RIP Tiddy. thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. Life is so precious fly high lad.”
At the time, West Yorkshire Police said: "The driver, a 35-year-old man who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The car had been travelling up Manchester Road away from the city centre at the time of the collision and had failed to negotiate a left turn onto Mayo Avenue.
"The incident is under investigation by West Yorkshire Police Major Collision Enquiry Team."
"Officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the silver Kia Sorento in the area prior to the collision, particularly anyone with relevant dashcam footage.
"They are also appealing to trace a specific potential witness who was the driver of a white box van that travelled along Mayo Avenue at the time of the collision but was not involved in the incident.”
