A RANDOM attack in Leeds left a man unconscious with a broken jaw and needing metal plate surgery.

West Yorkshire Police has launched an image appeal to identify a suspect who is wanted in connection with the attack in Leeds at 5.50pm on November 11. 

The suspect had a train ticket to Bradford and was involved in two other incidents that evening.

The victim of the random attack, a 36-year-old man was walking to the train station after finishing work when he was approached by the suspect.

This was near the entrance to the Trinity Leeds shopping centre car park, at the junction of Heaton’s Court and Trevelyan Square.

The suspect, without warning, punched the other man in the face, knocking him into a barrier and to the ground.

He was left unconscious before passers-by went to help him.

The 36-year-old victim had to undergo surgery for a broken jaw and have a metal plate fitted and is continuing to receive treatment.

The suspect was with a woman at the time of the attack and the pair ran off to the train station.

He had also been seen assaulting another man in the same area moments before the attack, but this person has not reported the incident

Police are treating the random attack as grievous bodily harm with intent and it is under investigation by Leeds District CID.

Detectives traced the movements of the suspect and the woman he was with to Leeds Train Station before and after the attack.

The man was involved in an altercation with ticket staff at the barrier after the random attack and was refused travel.
