A MAN has appeared in court charged with assaulting a police officer in Bradford city centre.
Jamie Thompson, 26, of Church Road, St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, faced a charge of assault by beating of an emergency worker.
He assaulted a police officer at the junction of Ivegate and Sunbridge Road on October 1 this year.
Thompson was handed a community order, which included abstaining from consuming alcohol for 90 days. He was also ordered to pay £100 compensation, a £114 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
There was no separate penalty for a further charge of being drunk and disorderly in a public place.
This happened on Ivegate on the same date as the other offence.
He was sentenced at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court on November 2 and his guilty pleas were taken into consideration.
