Prince Henry’s Grammar school’s annual book fair provides great opportunities for student to improve their reading skills and be able to enjoy a wide variety of book genres.
In November every year, the book fair opens up for student to come and go as they please at lunch and after school to buy books and colourful stationary. Available for around a week, the books can be cheaper than in bookstores and are split onto appropriate age sections. Anyone who is a student or teacher at the school can come at either lunch or after school on the right days and browse the books with no pressure to actually buy any of them.
Every sale the book fair makes, is contributed to the ordering of books for the library so students who may not be able to afford books but still want to enjoy them can borrow them from the library.
Mrs Wyss – the librarian – expresses her views on the importance of a school book fair, “It gives students the opportunity to see what popular books are out there and gives them a chance to own a book of their own.” She highlights why students would want a book fair and demonstrates the severe importance of a book fair
