SEVERAL trains have been cancelled this lunchtime on a key route connecting Leeds and Manchester.
Emergency services rushed to an incident at a railway station between Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria.
Police attended Ashton-under-Lyne station just before 1.30pm after a concern for the welfare of a man report.
The individual was later detained under the Mental Health Act.
The 11.06am TransPennine Express service from Hull to Manchester Piccadilly - which was supposed to call at Leeds at 12.07pm and Huddersfield at 12.25pm - was cancelled.
Two services going the other way, 1.35pm and 2.35pm, did also not run.
Additionally, there have been delays on the route's subsequent services.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Ashton-under-Lyne station at 1.21pm following reports of concern for the welfare of a man.
"The man was located and detained under the Mental Health Act before being taken to a place of safety."
