A MAN faces a bill of more than £400 after dodging a train fare between Bradford and Huddersfield.
Morza Ahmadi, 39, of Manchester Road, Bradford, faced one charge of travelling on the railway without paying a fare.
He travelled between Bradford Interchange and Huddersfield without paying the £5.20 fare.
During this journey, on May 13 this year, he was asked by the conductor to produce a valid ticket and could not. He could not then pay for the journey he was making.
He was issued with an Unpaid Fares Notice to pay the fare within 21 days. He did not pay within the time limit, and two subsequent letters were sent to him, without a payment being made.
Ahmadi was fined £220, ordered to pay £150 costs, a £34 victim surcharge and £5.20 compensation for the offence, which totalled £409.20.
Ahmadi was sentenced in his absence at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court on November 18.
