There’s a new musical on the block and it’s about to take the world by storm. Following its premiere in February this year, The Osmonds have toured around the UK and received heartfelt support all around. Written by Jay Osmond, this musical has an atmosphere of authenticity to replicate how the Osmonds looked and sounded live in the 70s.

Blinding TV studio lights of the swinging 60s transcend into dazzling stage lights and sounds of the 70s as we progress through the captivating story of the iconic Osmonds. Generally, the audience associates the ‘one-take Osmonds’ with the image of effortless success, natural talent and carefree joy. In this musical, another side of the story is revealed. The path each of them has to take is not easy, and when the stakes are high for the family, a huge price has to be paid.

Moving away from their humble origins in dusty Utah, the 5 ambitious brothers fight under the command of their military father to break through into the highly competitive music industry and with a little help from Walt Disney, they succeed. Their unique brotherly bond and their passion to bring joy to the masses made them international superstars.

We delve backstage into the minds of these determined and driven young people and experience show business from their point of view. Their raw and unfiltered feelings are finally heard, and the audience can decide for themselves if they think the sacrifice was worth it. From their tough childhood, through Osmondmania and even at the end of their careers, this tightly knit family never failed to put faith, family and career first.

The musical was a hit amongst the more senior audience as one spectator reported, ”The music aspect was fantastic! It was a bit of a cheesy story but the performance was really well done.” Alan Bowler had seen Donny Osmond at the Sheffield City Hall and so has had firsthand experience of Donny’s charm and playfulness. Alan claims that the performance was,”Absolutely excellent!” and that the 70s were his ”era” - this was a happy time that he loves to remember.

The ending hit ‘Let the Reason be Love’ really brought it all together as people hummed along and quickly joined in. Overall, this tribute to the Osmonds is a heart-warming and touching tale of the uncrushable human spirit. A family musical, this concoction of eccentric and emotional is an inspiration to many who look up to the Osmonds as role models. The embodiment of the American Dream, the Osmonds continue to inspire generations.  Despite distance and decades, this incredible production enables loyal fans to relive their best years.
