A driver who deliberately rammed two houses with a 4x4 car has caused serious structural damage.

A silver Mitsubishi Shogun with a distinctive green stripe was driven at the first property on Bracewell Drive, Halifax, at 6.49pm on Friday (November 25).

Moments later, one of the car’s occupants got out to assault a man in his 50s and left him with minor injuries.

At 7.05pm, police received a further call to report a car had hit a property on Claremont Close, reversed and rammed into it for a second time.

The house was unoccupied at the time.

Initial enquiries suggest the same Mitsubishi Shogun was used in both incidents, police said.

The serious damage has been linked to previous incidents reported at the same locations just weeks earlier.

It has sparked a police appeal for people to check their home CCTV systems and report any helpful sightings or information.

Footage may show the car covered in remnants of white paint or paint stripper thrown at it after the first incident.

The paint left a white stain on the side of the car.

It is thought that this vehicle has been in convoy with another vehicle, police said.

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Weekes, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “We are treating these as deliberate and targeted attacks. We will not tolerate this kind of violent and fear-mongering behaviour in our communities and have extensive enquiries ongoing to ensure that those responsible are identified and brought to justice.

“Officers will be carrying out increased patrols to provide reassurance to the wider community and also conducting house-to-house enquiries in the area.

“I would urge anyone who lives or works in Halifax, especially those in the Ovenden, Wheatley, Lee Mount and Boothtown areas, and has a CCTV system to please review their footage from around the time of the incidents.

“Similarly, if anyone believes they have seen this distinctive silver vehicle with green stripe then they are asked to make contact with us.”

Anyone with information about either of these incidents is asked to contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team by using West Yorkshire Police’s 101 Live Chat or calling 101.
