AN inquest is to open into the death of a man who was killed in a crash on a major Bradford road.

Nicky Tidswell, known as ‘Tiddy’, died in the crash on Mayo Avenue last Saturday.

An inquest into the 35-year-old’s death will be opened at Bradford Coroners’ Court on December 1 by assistant coroner Peter Merchant.

A statement issued by West Yorkshire Police after the crash said officers were called to Mayo Avenue at 3.38am on November 19, close to its junction with Manchester Road.

The force said a silver Kia Sorento SUV had lost control and collided with street furniture before overturning in the opposite carriageway.

The statement added: "The driver, a 35-year-old man who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The car had been travelling up Manchester Road away from the city centre at the time of the collision and had failed to negotiate a left turn onto Mayo Avenue.

"The incident is under investigation by West Yorkshire Police Major Collision Enquiry Team."

"Officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the silver Kia Sorento in the area prior to the collision, particularly anyone with relevant dashcam footage.

"They are also appealing to trace a specific potential witness who was the driver of a white box van that travelled along Mayo Avenue at the time of the collision but was not involved in the incident.”

A large police scene was in place following the crash while the forensic collision investigation team’s work got underway.

Tributes were paid across social media following the news of Mr Tidswell’s death and floral tributes were also left on Mayo Avenue.

Many people left messages among the flowers.

One note said: “Tiddy. Gone far too soon lad, someone so special can never be forgotten. Hope you have the best seat up there. Love you always.”

“Gone too soon,” another tribute said.

One person wrote: “Sending all my love to all your family.”

Tributes have also been left online.

“Rest in peace Nicky, one special person, fly high love,” read one message, while another said: “Luv u my brother.”

A number of comments on social media read “RIP Tiddy”, while others said “thoughts and prayers are with his family”, “you were too young to die this way” and “massive tragedy and so sad”.
