BUSES in Bradford could soon run on London Underground-style named, colour-coded routes.
The Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin has unveiled plans to roll out new colour-coded, named bus lines, maps and improved information at bus stops across the region, following a successful roll out in Leeds last year.
More than 40 new colour-coded bus lines will be introduced in Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield. Users will know which line their bus is on by a sticker added to the shelter, as well as a new colour added to the top of the bus stop.
Proposed improvements also include up to 500 new real-time information screens and a new set of maps to help passengers navigate the region’s bus lines and networks more easily.
A consultation into the plans has now begun.
Ms Brabin said: “When I was elected Mayor of West Yorkshire, I pledged to make buses cheaper and simpler, helping to get more people out of their cars and onto public transport.
“Our new colour-coded system, similar to that of the London Underground, will make it easier for people to get the right bus for where they want to go.”
