A man is behind bars awaiting sentence for a £5,000 roofing work fraud at a property in West Yorkshire.
Conrad Williams, who has convictions for dishonesty, appeared before Bradford Crown Court on a video link to Leeds Prison today.
Williams, 29, of Roughaw Road, Skipton, pleaded guilty to committing fraud on May 9 by dishonestly making a false representation, namely falsely claiming to be carrying out work on a man’s roof in Halifax intending to make £5,200 gain for himself.
His barrister, Abigail Langford, said he had previously denied the fraud but now wanted to admit it.
The court heard that he had been remanded in custody since August.
His ‘fairly significant record’ included previous convictions for fraud, Judge Andrew Hatton noted.
Miss Langford conceded that an adjournment to seek information from the probation service, and her legal submissions, would go to the length of sentence.
The court was told that Williams was locked up for burglary in February and wouldn’t have been out very long when he committed this offence.
Judge Hatton adjourned the case until December 7 so that the probation service can provide the court and Miss Langford with information they have on Williams.
He was remanded back into custody.
