A BRADFORD man will appear in crown court after admitting possessing thousands of packets of counterfeit cigarettes.

Kamran Khan admitted a string of offences related to the sale of cigarettes that falsely bore brands such as Lambert & Butler when he appeared at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Khan, 37, of Pembroke Street, on the edge of Bradford city centre, pleaded guilty to the nine charges – which had been bought by West Yorkshire Trading Standards.

Many of the charges said Khan possessed items that would easily be mistaken for the genuine article “with a view to gain for yourself or another.”

They included selling goods with a label likely to be mistaken for a registered trademark – a packet of Amber Leaf, on August 9 2017.

And a number of charges relating to November 26 2021;

  • Possessing 76 fraudulent 20-packs of West Cigarettes on that date.
  • Possessing 198 counterfeit 20 packets of Benson & Hedges Gold cigarettes.
  • Possessing 146 counterfeit 20 packets of Benson & Hedges Silver cigarettes.
  • Possessing 906 counterfeit 20 packets of Richmond King Size cigarettes.
  • Possessing 161 counterfeit 20 packets of Lambert & Butler cigarettes.
  • Possessing 18 counterfeit 50g packets of Benson & Hedges hand rolling tobacco.
  • Producing or suppling 3,847 tobacco products that did not comply with packaging regulations.
  • Supplying tobacco products, namely 3,847 tobacco products, that did not carry a combined Health warning.

He is due to appear at Bradford Crown Court on December 6, where he will be sentenced.
