A BRADFORD man has been banned from driving after he was caught at the wheel more than double the drink-drive limit.
Balwant Singh Rai, 62, of Thorndene Way in the Tong area of Bradford, was caught driving over the legal alcohol limit on Tong Street.
His Silver Vauxhall Asta was stopped, and Rai was found to have 81 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
The legal limit is 35 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath.
A collection order was made and Rai was fined £390, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £156, and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
In total he has to pay £631, which must be paid by November 29, 2022.
Rai has been disqualified from holding a driving license for 19 months but this could be reduced by 19 weeks if he completes a course approved by the Secretary of State, by November 19, 2023.
