POLICE have issued a warning after an increase in the theft of motorbikes in and around Bradford city centre.

A spokesperson for the Bradford District West and City NPT said: "We are currently seeing an increase in motorbike thefts that have generally been locked and secured in the city centre and surrounding areas.

"Work and intelligence gathering is ongoing to try target these criminals.

"Often the motorbikes are damaged in the process as they try 'at speed' to remove the vehicles."

The police also advised people on how to protect their motorbikes.

The spokesperson said: "Anything you can do to make this process harder will protect your vehicle.

"Please make sure you are taking every step you can to secure your property when parking your vehicles.

"Try using car parks that are well-lit and are actively using CCTV or are patrolled.

"If you have seen or witnessed any of this vehicle crime, please do get in touch online or ring 101."
