TWO people were rushed to hospital after a crash on a motorway which led to six miles of traffic building.
The collision happened on the M62 westbound carriageway, between junction 26 (M606, Chain Bar) and junction 25 (Brighouse).
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said emergency services were at the scene and that the crash happened at 5.35am near junction 25.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) was one of the services on the motorway, with two ambulances and a team leader sent to the scene.
Police said a woman was rushed to hospital, while a spokesperson for YAS said two people were taken to separate hospitals.
One was to Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) and the other Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
National Highways: Yorkshire posted on Twitter at 6.41am to alert people that three lanes (of four lanes) on the motorway are closed, as a result of the crash.
There was six miles of congestion at one point, with traffic briefly held after the collision.
Just one lane was closed later but traffic was still stretching back to junction 30 (Rothwell) and journeys were taking an extra 60 minutes.
The motorway eventually opened fully, at around 9.15am and traffic cleared.
