BRADFORD Council has responded to rumours that a tip in the district is going to close.
The gossip about Ford Hill Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC), off Hill End Lane, in Queensbury, potentially shutting emerged on a Facebook group yesterday.
One person commented saying the speculation was based on the tip being on reduced hours and a conversation between workers and a resident.
But Bradford Council has quashed the rumours in a statement issued to the Telegraph & Argus.
A spokesperson for the local authority said: “There are no current plans to close this facility.
"Like all local authorities across the country, we are looking at our running costs line by line, department by department.
"No service is being left unexamined and we are talking to our staff across all departments about how things might run differently to save money in light of the Government’s current financial crisis.
“Thursday’s financial statement from Government might give us more financial information to inform the drafting of our own budget which will start for public consultation on 14 December.
"Any proposal to close a service would first go into the Council’s budget proposals, then would go out to public consultation, before a decision could be made by full council next February.”
