A MAN faces a bill of more than £400 after dodging a train fare between Bramley and Bradford.
Carl Davis, 36, of Westover, Bramley, faced one charge of travelling on the railway without paying a fare.
He travelled between Bramley and Bradford Interchange without paying the £3.40 fare.
During this journey, on April 21, when he arrived at Bradford Interchange he could not produce a valid ticket for his journey and advised that he did not have any means with which to buy a ticket.
He was told the facts would be reported. Following the incident, a letter was sent to Davis requesting the fare only. As there was no response a Fixed Penalty Notice was then sent, but the fare remained unpaid.
Davis was fined £220, ordered to pay £150 costs, a £34 victim surcharge and £3.40 compensation for the offence, which totalled £407.40.
Davis was sentenced in his absence at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court on October 17.
