AN event will be held to promote lung health screenings across the district
Taking place on November 9 at Hillside Bridge Health Centre, Barkerend, during Lung Cancer Awareness Month, the event will mark the introduction of the Targeted Lung Health Check Programme.
It’s a service offered to those aged between 55 and 74 who are at a greater risk of developing lung cancer.
Eligible residents who have received invites are being encouraged to attend their appointment with a practitioner, to help detect symptoms of lung cancer and abnormalities early on.
A lung health check is an appointment over the phone to determine if your lungs should be scanned by a CT scanner. Whether or not patients will need a scan will depend on the results from the initial assessment, but anyone who attends an appointment will have a medical expert on hand to answer any questions.
To be eligible, you must be aged 55-74, a smoker or ex-smoker and registered to select GP surgeries in North Kirklees, Bradford and Keighley.
Appointments are available for patients of 38 practices in Bradford and residents are being advised to visit https://lunghealthcheckaware.co.uk/ to find out if their GP practice is one of the eligible locations.
