A leading Bradford pharmacist has been recognised in a list of healthcare’s ‘50 most influential black, asian and minority ethnic people’.
Dr Mahendra Patel OBE, who has dedicated his career to tackling health inequalities through the pharmacy profession, was named a “rising star” by the Health Service Journal.
The list is backed by the NHS Race & Health Observatory.
His accolades include improvements to type-2 diabetes prevention in South Asians, saving the NHS millions of pounds spent on wasted medicine, developing drug treatments to prevent hospitalisation from Covid-19, and much more.
Dr Patel said: “It’s nice to be recognised.
“It’s not just about inclusion and diversity but it’s about how can we help, support, influence and celebrate people and make a difference.
“It’s about improving health and health outcomes across the spectrum.”
