TECH-SAVVY Clayton Baptist Church in Bradford is celebrating receiving a £500 donation for winning a competition.
In April, specialist insurer Baptist Insurance invited Baptist places of worship to submit their Tales of Technology – stories showcasing how they have used technology to benefit their mission, congregation and their community.
Entries were submitted from across the country and judges selected 13 regional winners with each receiving a £500 donation.
Clayton Baptist Church’s winning story focused on a collaboration between the church and local schools to deliver online assemblies during lockdown.
A church children’s worker Lucy Brown – wife of minister the Rev Kenny Brown – collaborated closely with the staff at the nearby St John’s Church of England Primary.
Lucy used video editing software to create high-quality, personal assemblies which the school used weekly in each classroom. She also produced digital resources called Rewind to Easter and Rewind to Christmas to educate pupils on the story of these Christian festivals.
Rev Brown said: “We are delighted to be a regional winner and grateful to Baptist Insurance and are considering how to use the prize money to help us share the good news of Jesus in our community.”
