THE Business Making a Difference Award recognises the companies that have struck the balance between finance and finding ways to improve the lives of others.
The award shines a spotlight on the district’s companies which go the extra mile to provide services to their community and help their customers and organisations in a range of ways.
The finalists are Robertshaw’s Farm Shop, Regal Bakeries and 2TSHIRTGANG CIC.
Robertshaw’s Farm Shop, run by four generations, has been nominated for its donations to Cafe West in Allerton.
The nominator said: “They generously donated all sorts of food for Cafe West all over the year. Sharing their food with community.”
The business has been supporting Cafe West’s food back for about three years. It donates anything from bread and pies to curries and plants.
A spokesperson for Robertshaw’s Farm Shop said: “We always try to do the right thing, we’re Yorkshire so wasting anything is not what we like to do.
“It’s heart-breaking to know that the people we live amongst might be struggling, you never know one day we might be in that situation, and you’d hope that someone would look out for you.”
Regal Bakeries was nominated for its work with Dad Zone’s bake-off style competition.
The nominator said: “Regal bakery sent their professional taster to judge the baking competition and also supplied a big hamper for the winner. They gave all the children prizes so that everyone went home happy.
“It felt that the company wants to keep it roots strongly at local level even when it has become international.”
Marketing manager Alec Gladok said: “It is such an honour to be put forward. The Bradford community is at the heart of everything we do, from supporting local charities to playing our part in making a difference to people’s lives, this is a key focus for Regal Foods. We are proud to be a part of it.”
2TSHIRTGANG CIC offers a variety of youth services across Bradford - including a youth centre, exercise classes, activities, mental health workshops, and sports project.
The nominator said: “2TSHIRTGANG have helped and supported both of my children in building confidence, their mental health, school and providing an after school service.
“They put on health classes and both my children have started to lose weight and understand healthy food. They offer a youth service where my children can go, learn, play and have fun after school.”
