A NUMBER of protestors from in and around the Bradford district were arrested over the weekend.

Hundreds of Just Stop Oil supporters brought London to a standstill for the fifth week running by blocking traffic.

At least 19 arrests of West Yorkshire Just Stop Oil supporters were made in London following at least 26 from the county earlier this month.

Shocking footage shows one woman, a Parish Clerk from the region, being dragged across the road by an angry driver.

Naomi Goddard, 58, was arrested over the weekend for the fourth time this month.

The Hebden Bridge woman said: “I just can’t stand by any longer while the government takes us ever-closer towards the catastrophic climate tipping points which, if crossed, will lead us very quickly to climate and societal breakdown.

"We’re completely out of time, and if the Government refuses to act to protect us then we have no choice but to resist.”

Jane Thewlis, 60, a retired social worker from Bradford who’s been arrested four times since the start of October, said “I’ve been a full-time climate activist for seven years, acting within the law.

"But the climate crisis has become so urgent and politicians are recklessly ignoring the scientists. If the government won’t protect us it's time for nonviolent civil disobedience."

Manny McKenzie, a retired doctor from Bradford who has been arrested three times this month, added: “The majority of the British public want our political leaders to act on the climate crisis, insulate our homes, and act responsibly, but they’re doing just the opposite, which is why I feel I have no choice but to sit here in the road until I’m arrested."

Ludi Simpson, 69, a retired planner from Shipley, was also arrested over the weekend.

On Saturday, Just Stop Oil supporters from the North of England - 61 in total - blocked four locations across central London.

Each time they disrupted traffic by sitting in the road with their now familiar banners.

Some supporters glued themselves onto the tarmac while others locked onto each other with steel tubes, making their removal more difficult.

The actions over the weekend follow 29 days of continuous disruption by supporters of Just Stop Oil, which have resulted in around 650 arrests.

A spokesperson from the campaign said: “This is not a one-day event - expect us every day and anywhere. Our supporters will not stop until our demand is met: no new UK oil and gas."
