IMPORTANT equipment was stolen from a fire engine in Holme Wood - a meeting has been told.
The incident led to more community work by firefighters on the estate to try and "build relationships."
The theft was revealed to Councillors during a meeting of West Yorkshire Fire Authority's Community Safety Committee on Friday during a discussion on work being done by the fire service to tackle anti-social behaviour in Bradford.
Scott Donegan, area manager for prevention and response, said this work had included firefighters engaging with young people in areas that have been hot spots for anti-social behaviour.
Holme Wood attack on firefighters is condemned
He said: “We’ve done a lot of work in Holme Wood.
“We did have a problem in Holme Wood that resulted in equipment being stolen from one of our fire appliances.
“We visited the area and spoke to young people about what that equipment is for. This allowed them to understand the consequences of that theft.
“We work with neighbourhoods in Holme Wood to reduce anti-social behaviour. If we can build relationships and trust with the young people there it will help with prevention.”
