THE new owner of a Leeds Road restaurant has vowed to improve its food hygiene rating.
Iby’s Diner on Leeds Road was inspected on September 27 and given a zero rating.
For management of food safety, inspectors said urgent improvement was necessary.
For cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building, improvement was necessary while hygienic food handling was deemed to be generally satisfactory.
The rating was given under the old ownership of the business, said new owner Tayyib Sadiq.
He said the business is under new management and refurbishment has taken place.
Mr Sadiq added that they are expecting another visit soon and will hopefully be given a five rating, which is the highest.
He added that the restaurant will be opening earlier for breakfast and will also be introducing freshly roasted coffee.
The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme is a national scheme which gives food businesses a hygiene rating based upon conditions found at the time of a food hygiene inspection.
The Food Standards Agency keeps a record of hundreds of thousands of food businesses, which are given a hygiene rating from 0 to 5 depending on a number of factors.
Restaurants, pubs, takeaways and many other companies are visited by inspectors.
